WILD
REEFS
In
the last few decades overfishing is a important factor in
our coastal region. The natural balance is disturbed by
the most sophisticated animal, the human. The uncontrolled
fishing is destroying this fragile eko system.
For us divers this is happening in front of our eyes. Diving
from year to year on the same location we can se the absence
of a great number of species.
Location on which we can find some particular species of
fishes have become rare.
This location are often remote and not accessible to fishers,
this are the WILD UNDERWATER REEFS.
Fishers fishing with nets are avoiding them, for "dynamite
hunting" they are to deep, and spear fishers can't
reach them. Only fishers with hooks are fishing here, and
they keep the secret.
The members of the Triton diving team have the means and
opportunities to dive on such reefs and hunt with their
cameras. But the fishes also recognizes their hunters so
it is not always easy to make great shoots.
The dive sites
are often very far offshore 2-15 miles and at great depth,
reaching 100m. For such dives Triton members are right equipped.
Beside the knowledge of technical diving, navigation and
seaman skills are necessary. You also have to know the behavior
of the underwater creatures.
The weather conditions on this remote location can change
in minutes.
